Christopher Gamper Trio:
Christopher Gamper is a drummer in the San Francisco Bay Area. His debut release “Time Capture” is a jazz trio album (scroll down to see Indie Music’s review of this cd). The album features three different trios, with Christopher Gamper on drums, playing some of his favorite jazz standards.
The first trio is with Rob Roth on saxophone and Wil Blades on organ. The second trio is with Gerry Grosz on vibraphone and Dan Feiszli on bass. The third trio is with Jackie King on guitar and Seth Ford-Young on bass. “Time Capture” is the first release from Chris’ “San Francisco Bay Area Jazz Documentation Project”.
In the summer of 2006, he went into the studio with five different trios over a two week period. The goal was to capture the relaxed nature of a live performance but with studio quality sound. “Time Capture” is a selection of the first three trios that were recorded, and demonstrates Chris’ straight ahead jazz approach with an emphasis on be-bop, hard bop and modern jazz.
The fourth and fifth trio will be released soon on Chris’ second release “Standard Funk”, which explores the potential for jazz standards to groove, funk and rock. “Standard Funk” is Christopher Gamper on drums with Trio 1: Joe Cohen, Saxophone and Aaron Germaine, bass and Trio 2: Mike Abraham, guitar and Sam Bevan, bass.
